General Grade 8 Supply List

We have had a very busy but successful year end. Our Grade 12 students celebrated their graduation with a dinner and dance at the Trade and Convention Centre in downtown Vancouver on May 28th and had their Commencement ceremony on June 2nd at the Bell Theatre.  These were wonderful events with many photographs and many proud parents. As well, we would like to thank our parents who organized our highly successful Dry Grad which was held here at the school.   They did a tremendous amount of fundraising to keep our grads safe on their grad night.    
   On June 3rd and 4th we held Award Ceremonies to honour Super G and Honour Roll students in addition to our evening Awards Ceremony on June 28th.   Other recent events included the Athletic Banquet on June 14.  Many thanks to our Athletic Director, Mr. Robert Dewinetz for his efforts to make this a memorable event.   As well this past month we have enjoyed three weeks of the much anticipated street hockey.  Thank you to Mr. Vaughan for organizing our annual street hockey tournament.      
                Our Yearbooks were issued on June 10th.  Many thanks to Mrs. Becker and the yearbook students for this wonderful memory book.   
                  We are saying farewell and thank you to the following staff members who are leaving the school:  Mrs. Deane is retiring after many years of service, Mr. Tait who is moving on to a new position at the school district Career Education office, Ms. Berube who will be teaching at Surrey Connect, Mr. Wrotniak who has accepted a position at North Surrey Secondary, Ms. Becker, Mr. Dewinetz, Ms. Alvarado, Mr. Bucci, Ms. Horner, Mr. Klein, Ms. Law, Ms. Lunghamer, Mr. Meadows, Mr. Stroh, and Mr. Yoo  will leaving the school as well but have not yet received their new assignments.   Also after 3 years at our school our Vice Principal, Mr. M. Mcleod is being transferred to Semiahmoo Secondary School.  We will miss him and wish him all the best in his new assignment.  We will be welcoming Mr. R. Whitham, currently teacher at North Surrey Secondary as our new Vice Principal.      
We will be welcoming the following teachers:  Ms. Dhatt, English , Mrs. N. Gill, Science and Chemistry, Mrs. M. Funk is returning to teach Science, and Mr. Trottier, Drama.
This year we say a special farewell and “au revoir” to our French immersion students and their families as this is our last class of French immersion students to graduate from our school.  We wish all of our graduating students every success in post secondary and other endeavours.  Undoubtedly the best is yet to come. 
     On behalf of the staff at École Sullivan Heights Secondary, I would like to wish everyone a very relaxing and enjoyable summer vacation.  We look forward to having students come in on Sept. 7th for photo day and homeroom.   Look for all the details regarding photo day, early bird locker assignments, student schedules, the magnet calendar, etc in the August mailout.
