The Surrey Board of Education is the largest employer in Surrey with:

- A significant
number of our new teachers are hired from our pool of

Educational Culture
Our motto "Keeping Learners at the Centre" captures the essence
of the district's commitment to a focus on learners:
- We have a committed,
innovative teaching, administrative and support staff.
- Surrey students
achieve well, scoring near or above the average in BC Provincial
exams in the following subjects: English, Literature, Mathematics,
Physics, French, Geography, History and Francais Langue.
- In 2006/07, students in Surrey were at,
or above the provincial pass rate in 7 out of 8 courses
requiring provincial examinations. The proportion of students
with a C+ or better was at or above the provincial rate in 4 out
of 8 required courses.

Diversity
We have an ethnically
and culturally diverse population, with approximately one in four
students from a household in which English is not the first language.
Of the many languages other than English represented in Surrey schools,
the highest percentages are Punjabi, Chinese, Hindi, Tagalog, Spanish,
Polish, Vietnamese, Korean and French.
Partnerships with other educational institutions includes BCIT, Kwantlen University
