The purpose of Learning Resources Services (LRS) is to achieve efficient and cost effective ordering, purchasing, processing and distribution of learning resources and library material to district departments and schools. The department acts as an intermediary with the Ministry of Education, Resource Standards Branch and publishers/vendors.
Integrated Resource Packages (IRPs), published by the Ministry of Education, list provincially recommended resources. Learning Resources Services maintains a database of learning resources that have received either provincial or local recommended status and therefore are approved for use in classroom instruction. A growing number of library resources are also identified in the database.
