Welcome to the gifted education page. The gifted education programs in our district provide equity of access for all students. In addition, they recognize the generic needs of gifted and highly able students and offer programs that allow these students the opportunity to work with their intellectual peers.
Elementary
All elementary schools in the district refer students to five challenge sites. Selected students participate in a half a day a week module during a nine week program. There are
three full time classes for gifted students in grades 5, 6 and 7. Referrals for the Multi-Age Cluster Class (MACC) may be completed by the classroom teacher or parent. Students who are referred will be screened before being placed in this program.
Secondary
Due to the diversity of timetables and programs at the secondary level each school has developed a program that best meets the needs of their gifted students.
