Thank you for your interest in School District No.36 (Surrey). Ours is a dynamic and growing district with over
67,000 students and almost 8,000 staff. We are actively seeking highly skilled
Special Education Assistants (SEAs). Working as a SEA in the Surrey School District can, and often does, lead to more permanent opportunities.
In addition, Surrey offers a competitive wage rate and benefits after six
months of service.
We carefully screen completed applications to select candidates for personal interviews. Overview of the Hiring Process

Step One - Application
School District No. #36 (Surrey) will post on our website when we are
accepting applications. You may apply by downloading a
support staff application form
(PDF) from our website or you can apply on-line through MakeaFuture.
Please ensure you submit the following documents with your application:

- Practicum reports
- Transcripts
- References
Please submit your completed application form and all relevant documents to the Human Resources Office,

Step Two - Screening
Complete submissions are reviewed by the Human Resources department
Step Three - Reference Checks
Reference checks are completed. Professional references from Principals and/or Vice Principals,
Teachers, Practicum Supervisors and former employers who have seen you
working with children are required. It is essential that all phone numbers be current. Unfortunately, we cannot use email addresses for reference check purposes.
Step Four - Interview

Step Five - Criminal Record Search
Successful applicants will be asked to start the process of a Criminal Records
Check and a statement of medical fitness. The recruitment policy of School District No.36 (Surrey) requires all applicants to provide criminal record information upon request. The cost incurred for the CRC and medical certificate is paid by the applicant.
Step Six - Orientation/Documentation
Employment is subject to the Criminal Record
Check. Once that is complete, successful applicants are welcomed to the district and complete the orientation and documentation process.
