Hiring Process - Teachers-On-Call
 


Thank you for your interest in School District No.36 (Surrey). Ours is a dynamic and growing district with over 65,000 students and almost 8,000 staff.  Working as a TOC in the Surrey District can, and often does, lead to more permanent opportunities. 

We carefully screen completed applications to select candidates for personal interviews. Please ensure that all documents and enclosures requested on the application form are complete and up to date, so that your file can be reviewed as soon as possible. Unfortunately, incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

Applications for TOC's are accepted using our TOC application form (PDF) or through the MakeaFuture website. Temporary teaching postings are listed weekly on our website (see current vacancies). 

Applications for specific teaching positions should be submitted to the address indicated on the job posting by the competition closing date, and will not be accessible through Makeafuture.

Overview of the Hiring Process

Please make sure all applications are complete and up to date. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

Step One - Application

School District No. #36 (Surrey) is currently ONLY accepting teacher-on-call applications for FRIM (elementary and secondary) by downloading a TOC application form (PDF) from our website or through the MakeaFuture website.

Please submit your completed application form and all relevant documents to the Human Resources Office, 14033 - 92 Avenue, Surrey, BC, V3V 0B7 or online through MakeaFuture.

Step Two - Screening

Complete submissions are reviewed by a District Principal of Human Resources.

Step Three - Reference Checks

Reference checks are completed. Professional references from Principals and/or Vice Principals, Faculty Associates and School Advisors who have seen you teach are required. It is essential that all email addresses and phone numbers be current for reference check purposes.

Step Four - Interview

Selected applicants are contacted for an interview. Please wait for us to contact you. Applicants who are successful will be notified by telephone.

Step Five - Criminal Record Check / Health and Safety Orientation

Successful applicants will be asked to start the process of a Criminal Records Search. The recruitment policy of School District No.36 (Surrey) requires all applicants to provide criminal record information upon request as well as an online Health and Safety Orientation. The cost incurred for the CRS is paid by the applicant.

Step Six - Orientation/Documentation

Employment is subject to the Criminal Record Search. Successful applicants are welcomed to the district and complete the orientation and documentation process.
