Getting a Head Start….Surrey School District Partnership Programs

Partnership Programs are Career Prep programs developed in partnership with local post-secondary institutions to provide specialized training not offered in Secondary schools. Students go through a rigorous application and interview process to gain a spot in these amazing programs.

Congratulations to the following students who have gained conditional acceptance into one of these programs for the 2011/2012 year:

• Maia Balewicz - Culinary Arts – Professional Cook I
• Brock Whitehead & Buddy Wood ~ Electrical
• Giselle Kyoma ~ Hairdressing/Esthetics
• Amy Saraon - Law Enforcement Prep Program
• Damen Higham, Brennan Fraser and Damian Mullett - Welding

LAM CO-OP Experience:

Congratulations to another successful year of Co-op’s at L.A. Matheson! All of our students had outstanding evaluations from their employers for both of their Work Experience courses. Comments such as “This is the best student we’ve ever had” and “We don’t want him to leave. He’s such an asset to our company!” were common on each final evaluation. Thanks to all of our students for representing LA Matheson so well in the community!

For the 2011-2012 year we have five programs running. They are:

• Grade 11: Humanities 11
• Math 11 PC/Chemistry 11
• Grade 12: Culinary Arts 12
• Info Tech 11/12
• Work Experience 12

Applications for these programs for the 2012 - 2013 year will begin in February 2012
