Grade 10’s and 12’s are currently writing exams. There are 2 grades writing exams while classes are going on. Exams are written in the theatre but Mr. Deacon is not happy with the set up and has spoken to the pastor at Johnston Heights Church to see if in the future the school could use their basement to write exams and we would get some partitions made.
So far the grade 10’s have done an excellent job writing exams, have come well prepared, Grade 12’s have been quite as good.

At the next executive meeting the wish list from the teachers will be discussed regarding spending of gaming funds.5. Committee Reports
DPAC - Emma Dyck attended the DPAC meeting on January 26th. The following was brought up at that meeting:
DPAC is looking for donations from PAC’s. One idea was the money that is received by PAC from the district each year is donated back to DPAC. DPAC runs on donated funds.
Bonaccord Elementary School playground has been deemed unsafe, and the PAC is requesting ideas from other PACs on how to raise large amounts of money for such a project.
Old Yale Elementary School PAC had to pay for replacement teacher and re-certification of first aid. Old Yale PAC does not understand why PAC would have to pay for such a thing.
Jessie Lee Elementary - Vandalism issues continue. Thinking about setting up a parent patrol. RCMP guidelines being looked into.
Discussion on Surrey Traditional and Guildford Park maybe having an "All Girl" Math and English Class.
Discussion on Drugs in Schools.
DPAC to have more open forums in the future.
DPAC executive mentioned that DPAC is thinking about having an office where they would hold advocacy project, resource library and be a meeting place for the board.Dry Grad Committee - There was a meeting held on January 26th, with 5 parents and 2 Executive members in attendance. Mr. Zanatta is the teacher rep for the grad committee. There is no real committee set up at this point, but Monica Schwabe and Tracey Chan are giving it some serious thought and will report back to the next PAC meeting if they will chair the committee. There has been nothing booked at this time and there isn’t a lot of time left to make these decisions.
Fundraising Committee - There were no orders for the Progressive fund-raiser for Feb 1st. There were some orders in December, but it is going slowly. This will continue for the rest of the year and hopefully there will be more interest. We still have 17 cases of coffee left to be sold. These tins are sold at every opportunity possible. Any one wanting a great tin of coffee for only $5.00 please see one of the PAC members.
6. School Planning Council
Darleen Taylor attended the school planning council meeting and they spent a lot of time discussing the following four questions.
1. Based on the student achievement data provided to you and the district’s goals for improving student achievement, what do you perceive to be the district’s areas of strength, and what areas should receive greater attention?
2. After several years of having to contend with the budget shortfalls, the Board has finally been able to provide restoration in a number of key areas (supplies, textbooks, equipment, and technology). What areas do you believe should be given a high priority for future budget consideration?
3. The District is presently engaged in the development of a strategic plan based on the stated Vision 2008. Given the four major themes and their related recommendations, what actions would you like to see that would address the various recommendations?
4.Do you think the school planning council is necessary, or are PAC’s doing the same type of job? Mr. Deacon also attended a similar meeting and he put together some answers to the above questions that can be accessed if interested.7. Old Business
There was an additional expense of $17.12 of postage costs for Dry Grad. Linda Blais put forth a motion that this expense be covered by funds in the general account. Emma Dyck seconded the motion. Passed. No further business
