
Parent Advisory Council - Meeting started 7:10 pm.1. Welcome and introductions. Inquired if there were any additions to agenda. Steve Schnitzer to write letter re-leaky roof.
2. Review of previous minutes from October. Motion carried to accept.
3. Principal's Report by Jim Deacon
Quick overview of school views to improve overall student literacy.
Jim presented Grade 7 FSA results. RAD 36 to be given to all students to assess a baseline for learning. Stats also presented were regarding gender achievement gap.
Karen Barden (School Librarian) has requested funds for specifically "boys reading material". Motion to approve $1,300.00 as requested by Karen Barden for high interest books for boys to improve literacy with casino funds once received. Motion was accepted.
The feedback from the student conferences was very positive.
Mr. Deacon in the process of visiting every classroom. As of this date, 29 classroom visits have been made.
Veteran's Breakfast scheduled for November 10, as well as a Remembrance Day Assembly in the morning. The Global Issues Club will be serving for the breakfast.
Athletic update: Senior Boys soccer team has qualified for the Provincial Finals November 15/16 at Burnaby Lake.Meeting was adjourned while Mr. Doug Beers from Progressive Fundraising explained his program for school fundraising.

Grade 10's are writing exams in January and June worth 20% of their final marks to be included in transcripts.
In the process of instituting a program to prepare students for Provincial Exams. In-house program being introduced called "Test Busting Strategies. Mr. Deacon to meet with department heads to discuss presentation.
Mission statement drafts were presented and discussed.4. Financial Report
John Holt and Linda Blais have arranged to view bank statements on-line.
Review statement of revenue/expenses.
Direct access funds not received yet.
Final application is being prepared.

Maryann Kika putting together letter asking for volunteers. Motion to spend up to $75.00 to provide mail-out for Grade 12 parents. Motion accepted.7. Fundraising Committee
$80.00 was raised by selling coffee at the parent/teacher conferences. Michelle put binder together to advise of various ongoing group fundraising events.8. Dance Committee
School dance to be held November 25. Brenda Holt to arrange and coordinate concession.9. Old Business
No change in the status of the all weather field.
Position of PAC Secretary still available.
Staples Recycle for Education was applied for. No news back.
The Inkwell Empty Cartridge Collection Program is being coordinated by Karen Barden.10. New Business
Grad Dinner and Dance has been booked at the Renaissance Hotel in Vancouver.
