Students and teachers can access the on-line catalogue from any computer on the school network and from home. Imagine being able to access the library from anywhere!

 LOCATING RESOURCES

Locating resources in the Library, Media and Technology Centre is easy. The call number you find on the on-line catalogue corresponds to the call number on the spine of each book or resource. It is designed by assigning numbers according to the Dewey decimal classification system which facilitates organization of material by subject. This number is followed by the first three letters of the author's surname.

INTERNET /
WORD PROCESSING/
CD-ROM STATIONS

Students have restricted access to the internet in the library. To access the internet, students must have a signed district internet/computer license. The library has a record of who has turned in their form to the office. Students failing to abide by the school/district rules will be forbidden to access school computers.

The internet is to be used for educational purposes only. There is absolutely no MSN, chatting, facebook, email, downloading music, copying programs, or recreational cruising allowed!!

Students must be under the supervision of their classroom teacher. Sorry, the internet is not available at noon hour as there is no supervision.

Numerous CD-ROM stations give students easy access to a wealth of information.

Due to the high cost of paper and ink, there are a few rules regarding usage of Internet/Word processing/CD-ROM stations:

1. Maximum 5 pages of printing. If you want to print more than 5 pages, save it to disk or email it to yourself and print at home! Sorry, no colour printouts available.

2. Please limit map or graphic printing.

All iMAC stations have Appleworks 6 for word processing. The PC's have Office.

Students must supply their own computer disk for saving documents. Please plan your time wisely, as the teacher-librarian will not stay until midnight for you to finish word processing an essay!
