The district’s purchasing department oversees the acquisition of goods and services, with the exception of new construction and renovations which are managed by our business management services (“BMS”) group. Purchasing manages the procurement process, obtains optimum value and ensures compliance with district policies and regulations, provincial and federal laws, and trade agreements.
Purchasing is the only department in the district authorized to directly negotiate with vendors and commit the district to legal and contractual obligations.
We welcome vendor inquiries regarding the provision of goods and services to the district. Please forward an email with any questions to Maria Melan, purchasing manager (melan_maria@sd36.bc.ca) and a member of the purchasing team will respond to your inquiry.
The majority of public sector organizations in British Columbia, including the Surrey School District, use BC Bid for advertising competitive bidding opportunities. We post invitations such as request for proposal and request for tender documents on the site that detail our requirements and invite interested vendors to submit proposals for consideration.
The BC Bid site allows vendors who register as suppliers to receive automatic notifications of bid opportunities that match the parameters established by the vendor. We recommend vendors contact BC Bid directly to learn more.
