  • Superintendent's Year End Report (74 KB)
At the end of each school year, the Board is provided with a Superintendent's Report at its final public meeting. This Report is not part of the provincial accountability requirement. Rather, it is intended to highlight just a few of the many significant accomplishments over the past year, as well as outline areas for priority attention in 2010/11. Once again, this year, it is a pleasure to present the Board with this Report and acknowledge the remarkable work being done throughout the district by employees who are so clearly committed to shared values and goals of supporting learning success for every student.

Planning

  • Community Literacy Plan
Led by the Surrey School District, the City of Surrey and the Surrey Public Library, more than 100 community organizations are participating in a comprehensive and collaborative plan to promote literacy and life skills in Surrey and White Rock. (Read more about the plan.)

  • Capital Plan Summary 2010 - 2014 (79 KB)
Each year, school boards are required to submit a Five Year Capital Plan to the Ministry of Education describing and prioritizing capital project proposals such as new schools, school sites, additions or major renovations. The capital plan is a sort of district "wish list" of projects, prioritized for consideration and approval by the Minister of Education.

The attached Board report was submitted as part of Surrey School District's 2010-2014 Five Year Capital Plan. Please note that unlike previous years submissions, the Five Year Capital Plan submission does not include seismic projects. The Province has indicated that it is reviewing its seismic program and school districts have been directed not to submit seismic funding requests until after new instructions are received from the Ministry.

The list following the attached report to the Board provides a ranking of the Surrey Board of Education's proposed capital plan projects in order of priority and the requested year for funding, as submitted to the Ministry of Education.

The projects listed are the Board's priorities; however, project and funding approval by the Ministry of Education is required before a project can proceed.

Future approvals of capital plan projects by the Ministry of Education will be posted on this website after they are received by the school district.
