Earl Marriott Secondary (EMS) - Cyclone Taylor Advanced Hockey Academy (EMS-CTAHA)
- The EMS-CTAHA is a Surrey School District supported and authorized program.
Under the leadership and stewardship of Earl Marriott Secondary Principal, Mr. Peter Johnston, the EMS
staff team has successfully integrated this new program to meet the academic and school needs
of every student.
- This unique partnership allows students to meet their academic goals while
participating in the Hockey Academy.
- Students will receive course credits as per their grade level.
- The program’s long-term goal is to provide a full learning
spectrum of skill development to give each player an extra edge in athletic and academic
achievement.
- The EMS-CTAHA is an officially licensed program of Hockey Canada.
The Academy instructors are trained and sanctioned by Hockey Canada and the National Coaching
Certification Program. Instructors undergo annual professional development through the
Academy training program.
Misson Statement
The EMS-CTAHA develops the physical and mental attributes of young players, confidence and self-esteem, knowledge of tactics and techniques, and increases the chance of success in hockey and academic pursuits. This athlete centered hockey experience pursues the goal of developing the conmplete player and person.
Cost for 2010-11 school year
Athletic Requirements
- All students must be playing Rep hockey at the time of application.
- The EMS-CTAHA is open to players of Advanced Skill Levels, male (grades 8-11) and female (grades 9-12).
- The students must be keen to improve their individual game and to maximize their own potential.
Academic Considerations
