The district's new Girls Softball Academy will provide athletes with a high intensity training environment that improves softball skills, increases confidence and helps those students that are interested in earning a softball university scholarship.
The primary instructor is former national and Olympic team alternate player Shannon Maion, who has National Coaching certicification level 2. A number of certified guest coaches will provide further technical expertise and maintain a manageable instructor to student ratio.
The Board of Education approved the program at its meeting on May 20, restricting enrollment to students attending Lord Tweedsmuir or residing within Lord Tweedsmuir's catchment area. The annual fee for each student in the academy is $500.
