Regional Skills Competition: Surrey district congratulates its 118 student participants and 24 medal winners
 


This year’s Lower Fraser Valley Regional Skills Competition at Kwantlen Polytechnic University was overflowing with Surrey district participants as more than half of competitors came from Surrey schools. Students from Delta, Langley and Richmond also participated.

The Surrey district walked away with medals in 11 of the 14 competition categories -- eight gold medals, eight silvers and eight bronzes. See medal winners listed below.

Skills/Compétences Canada® is a national, not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies to Canadian youth.

Gold medalists have an opportunity to compete at the provincial competition takeings place April 21 at Tradex in Abbotsford, B.C. Top winners from that event will advance to the national competition a month later in Waterloo, Ontario. Gold medalists from the Canadian event are invited to compete in the 2011 WorldSkills held in London, England.
