Surrey students invited to participate in opening of Paralympics on March 12

A dedicated group of singers from Princess Margaret secondary will form a part of the mass choir to be seen on national television during the opening ceremonies.

The 24 students in grades 8 to 12 together with their choir director Velma Moore and assistant director Carmen Gaisford are practicing on their own time and giving up part of their spring break to sing as part of the mass choir.

The composition of the mass choir, the name of the soloist and the song name are all top secret.

The Princess Margaret choir was invited to participate after an impressive performance at the Surrey Choral Fest. Officials have already visited the school to hear the students and ensure they are ontrack with their preparation, commenting that "for a little group they have great sound and good energy."
