Lord Tweedsmuir secondary school community best in blood donations

The staff, students and parents at Lord Tweedsmuir have donated more blood through the Canadian Blood Services mobile blood donation program than any other group in the Lower Mainland.

Canadian Blood Services has awarded Lord Tweedsmuir secondary one of three “2009 Top Performer Partners for Life awards, Lower Mainland Mobiles”.

In 2009, the school community donated 139 units of blood.  The Lord Tweedsmuir community has been generously donating through the Canadian Blood Services mobile blood donation program over the past four years, contributing more than 350 units of blood during that time.

"This is a great way for our students to give back to the community," says Michele Stea, the teacher who organizes student donors. "Some of our donors are very committed and several have donated four or five times in the past two years."
