Mark Madryga kicks off 5th annual Stuff the Bus campaign

Global BC Morning News Meteorologist Mark Madryga joined Surrey Board of Education Chair Laurae McNally and Councillor Barinder Rasode, Acting Mayor of Surrey to kick off the 5th annual Stuff the Bus campaign at Guildford Town Centre today.

The Stuff the Bus campaign provides much needed school supplies through community support. Individuals can either make a cash donation or drop off school supplies from August 17 to September 7. Both cash and supplies can be dropped off at the Guildford Town Centre or at two Staples locations collecting for Surrey, 10136 King George Hwy, Surrey or 3037 152 St, South Surrey.

Donations and supplies collected will be distributed by the Surrey School District to the schools and families that are most in need.

The Surrey School District has partnered with the Guildford Town Centre and Staples Canada for Stuff the Bus.

“It is wonderful to see students and families in need have the opportunity to get off to a good start in the new school year through the generosity of our community,” says McNally. “Our board is also grateful for the efforts and support of Guildford Town Centre and Staples in making the Stuff the Bus campaign happen.”

The partnership between Guildford Town Centre Mall and the Surrey School District for Stuff the Bus is a result of a relationship developed through the Guildford Area Community-Schools Partnership. The Surrey Community-Schools Partnership brings together community expertise and resources of parents, community leaders, social service agencies and elementary and high school administrators to ensure a coordinated approach that addresses the needs of children and families in Surrey.
