Surrey students place in 10 of 15 categories at the Lower Fraser Valley regional skill competition

Surrey students walked away with four golds, seven silvers and four bronze medals at the March 7 skills competition. District students also garnered a top research award. Winning students and categories are listed below.

Gold medalists move onto the April 22 provincial competition, with the opportunity to advance to the nationals in PEI and then the World Skills Competition in the fall in Calgary.

The competition is run by the national non-profit organization Skills Canada, a registered charity composed of volunteers representing industry, labour, education and government. Volunteers are dedicated to promoting and enhancing the perceived value of technical and trade skills among B.C. youth.

The Surrey School District congratulates all students who participated and thanks parents and teachers for their support.
