New Students and Registration Dates & Times
 


Be sure to check Opening Day for important information about classes on the first day of school. Also visit Back to School for important information for parents as we start a new school year.

◊ New Student Registration

Students who are new to the Surrey School District need to register in person at their neighbourhood school, or school of their choice if space is available.

Upon registration at the school, the following documents must be provided :

  1. Proof of Birth Date for the student (Birth certificate or passport);
  2. Proof of guardianship (parents’ or guardians’ as shown on birth certificate or other appropriate legal documentation such as landed immigrant paper or guardianship order);
  3. Proof of citizenship for both the parent and the student (Canadian birth certificate, citizenship card, passport, landed immigrant document, permanent resident card);
  4. Proof of Residency (a purchase or rental agreement, cable, hydro or gas bill etc.).

Documents which are helpful, but not required to register:

  • Health Documents (Care card, immunization records, medical condition information);
  • Educational background (i.e. report cards for the last two years).

Please note that while immunization records are not required for registration, a copy is requested for the student’s file as a health safety measure.

Those born in British Columbia can obtain birth certificates from BC Vital Statistics.

English language assistance:
The Surrey School District English Language Learner Welcome Centre provides registration assistance and placement assessments for new Canadians who are English language learners. Welcome Centre staff members speak more than 25 languages and provide information about the B.C. education system, Surrey schools and community services. Contact the Welcome Centre at 604-543-3060.

Elementary Schools
Register at your elementary school from Monday, Aug. 29 to Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Secondary Schools
Register at your secondary school from Monday, Aug. 22 to Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Surrey Connect: A Distributed Learning School
K-9 registration begins Aug. 22 (19233 60th Ave.; 778-571-2223). Grades 10-12 and Adults (14033 92nd Ave.) may register all summer 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full-time registrants are asked to arrange an appointment with a counsellor by calling 604-592-4263 or 1-888- 492-4263. Learning Centres

Adult Education
