Students who are residents of Surrey or White Rock and who meet the following
criteria, will be considered eligible for regular school bus transportation to and from the
school which has been designated by the Superintendent of Schools to serve their
residence:
Kindergarten to Grade 3 students who live in a residence that is located
more than 4 km (2.5 miles) from their school, measured by the
nearest passable road. Noon hour transportation is not available to kindergarten students.
When kindergarten students are assigned to a class outside their
attendance area, school-to-school transportation will be provided, both
ways.
Grades 4 to 12 students who live in a residence that is located more than
4.8 km (3 miles) from their school, measured by the nearest passable
road.
Students who were enrolled at a school and were eligible for transportation at the conclusion of the immediately preceding school year, and choose to remain at that school when their residence is placed in another school catchment area, will continue to be eligible
for transportation for as long as the student remains in that particular school and residence. This provision shall not apply when the student would be attending a new school.
Under Policy 5400 (see below), busing may be provided in unusually unsafe walking conditions.
For the transportation of students with special needs or other considerations, see the policies below.
