Rationale: Many students are narrowly focussed on specific post-secondary pre-requisites, minimizing their exposure to a broader educational foundation.
Objectives: Increase enrollment in diverse areas of study, continue a Leadership course and a First Nations Studies course, maintain high levels of enrollemnt in apprenticeship programs and district partnership programs, improve writing and oral presentation skills across the curriculum and increase learning opportunities in these areas, and continued involvement in clubs, arts, athletics, and volunteer service.
Goal #2 - To further develop our students' sense of belonging to, and ownership towards, the Fraser Heights School Community and the community at large.
Rationale: Over the past two years, there has been a focus on envirronmental responsibility and keeping the school clean. This has resulted in many students beginning to use the garbage cans and take responsibility for the environment. This must be further developed amongst the student body. There has also been a focus on environmental awareness and education. This is essential if students are to be stewards of our planet. Also, if students can be encouraged to take pride in their school environment, they will be more likely to incorporate a greater sense of social responsibility in their daily lives. Finally, there is a rich diversity of cultures at the school and a need to encourage a mix between different cultures.
Objectives: To develop students' pride and sense of belonging to Fraser Heights Secondary School. To reduce the amount of litter in and around the school building and surrounding communit, and to improve students' attitudes and sense of responsibility with regards to recycling.
