"This course allowed me to get in touch with my unknown creative side" -Janine Laporte This couse on working with glass is for experinced or novice students. Beginner students may follow the Grade 11 course for skill devlopment, while experienced glass workers will be expected to show more initaive and independnce in thier project selection and design. Students will complete several teacher directed projects to refesh/learn new skills and at least one major peice of the students choice and design.
Glass Art 12This course on working with glass is for experienced or novice students. Beginner students may follow the gr.11 course for skill development while experienced glass workers will be expected to show more initiative and independence in their project selection and design. Students will complete several teacher directed projects to refresh / learn new skills and at least one major piece of the student's choice and design. Course Fees: $40.00 for course supplies and materials used in skill building exercises, Students will be responsible for the material costs of their final project. Requirements for course completion will include: regular, punctual attendance & participation, an orientation and safety quiz for tools, equipment and studio privileges, tests, quizzes and/or assignments pertaining to the history, development, theories and techniques associated with our study of glass. Student participation in the class is expected and required lates and unexcused absences result in missed classroom experiences and will lead to a low or incomplete final mark.
Marks- Final grades will be calculated based on the following:
Etching – glass, resist, knives, frame and mounting material Stained Glass –glass, lead came, edging, solder & flux Beads – Marrietti glass, stainless rods & release, gas Fusing/Forming – molds, release, glass
NOTE: Students are responsible for providing materials (glass, foil, lead, etc.) for their final projects. Students have varying tastes, ambitions and budgets for their final expressions in glass and thus must bear the cost associated with the final project. A list of glass art suppliers will be provided and each student is expected to phone and visit a store with their plans and drawings to acquire materials. HINT Resourceful students will collect materials from friends and neighbors or keep an eye on the roadside during clean-up week for glass, mirror, lamps, etc. that may be recycled into a project. |
