Desktop Publishing
Desktop Publishing 11 is aimed at helping students learn the principles of layout and design, and exploring the technology needed to create professional, quality looking documents. These documents include business cards, letterhead, brochures, newsletters, poster advertisements, and magazine layouts. Students will learn the basics of graphic design, copywriting, typography, and colour theory. Students will also be given the opportunity to create and maintain their own blog and contribute content to the school website - www.earlmarriott.com. Students who are in grade 10 may also take Desktop Publishing 11.
Desktop Publishing 12 allows students to further their skills in the area of desktop publishing. This course requires that students have previously taken Desktop Publishing 11. Students will be given the opportunity to explore the career of freelance graphic designer with an emphasis on desktop publishing.
Software utilized in these courses includes Microsoft Office, Macromedia Studio 8 (Fireworks and Dreamweaver), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.
