Boundary Map Tips

Requirements

Your computer must have Adobe Reader 4.0 or higher installed to view the boundary maps. Adobe Reader 8 is the most recent version and is available for free download from www.adobe.com.

Saving the Map to Your Computer

Some web browsers may have difficulty displaying the boundary maps, especially the large colour version. If you are unable to view the map online, or are having problems seeing the entire map, try downloading the map and viewing it directly from your computer:

Windows:
  1. Place mouse over the "School Boundary Map" link
  2. Right-click
  3. Choose "Save Target As" and save to your local hard drive

Mac:

  1. Place mouse over the "School Boundary Map" link and click
  2. Choose target location for file and save to your local hard drive

Viewing

To view street and lot configuration relationships to boundaries please use your zoom tool. Drag magnifier tool with left button on your mouse to area to magnify.

A zoom of approximately 800% provides best viewing of streets, street names and property lines. A zoom of 600% provides a good view of surrounding elementary and secondary school boundaries and a zoom of 25% provides an overall district view.

To increase magnification: Select the zoom-in tool, and click the page, or drag to draw a rectangle around the area to magnify. You can also click the Zoom In button in the viewing toolbar.

To decrease magnification: Select the zoom-out tool, and click the page, or drag to draw a rectangle the size you want the reduced page to be. You can also click the Zoom Out button in the viewing toolbar.

Tip: When the zoom-in tool is selected, you can press Ctrl (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while clicking to zoom out instead of in. When the zoom-out tool is selected, press Ctrol or Option to zoom in.

Printing

As the map is quite large, you will not be able to see much detail when printing the entire map on an 8.5 by 11 sheet. Instead, you may wish to only print a portion of the map.

To print a portion of the map:

  1. Zoom in to 300% view.
  2. Use the graphic select or snapshot tool to drag a box over the area you want to print.
  3. Print the file (File - Print). Only the area you selected with the graphic tool will print.

If this method does not work in your version of Adobe Reader, you can also select an area of the map with the snapshot tool and paste it to a program such as Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop.
