Betty Huff Elementary
Code of Conduct
Our mission at Betty Huff Elementary School is to facilitate growth and development of our students by providing strong educational programs in a safe, caring, orderly and supportive environment. School rules and policies have been established to ensure that all members of the school community can work and learn in a safe place. The staff is committed to teaching our students proactive strategies, which will enable them to resolve conflicts and to solve problems in an appropriate manner. No set of rules can tell a student in detail what to do in every situation. Therefore, at Betty Huff, students are expected to know and conduct themselves according to our school rules, which ask students to Respect Others, Themselves and Property. The rules and expectations, although not an exhaustive list, apply to all students in all settings and situations. This includes travel to and from school.
• Each student is expected to act in such a way that he/she will not endanger the physical or emotional health and safety of himself/herself and others.
• Each student is expected to make sure his/her actions do not interfere with the rights of others to learn and to use school facilities.
• Each student is expected to refrain from making any comments or gestures of a sexual nature to any person on school property or on the way to or from school.
• Each student is expected to be respectful of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, without distinction as to ethnicity, gender, language, religion or sexual orientation. Discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.
• Each student is expected to report to a person in authority (parents, teachers, the principal, etc.) about activities relating to illicit substances, sexual harassment, violence, weapons, or other serious matters.
